Our mission is to make the tango scene in Ireland grow, especially with more young people. We don't just want numbers, we want quality and for this reason we focus a great amount on technique for leading and following, and from being able to walk to the music with elegance to doing all kinds of more elaborate figures smoothly.

What to wear:

Comfortable clothes, casual dress code, just try to wear shoes that do not stick to the floor or fall off easily. ie: no hiking boots or flip-flops!!

Great music selection guaranteed.

For more info. please email dancetango@gmail.com

FAQ:

* What is a milonga? ...A milonga is the name for just having music on to dance. It is a nice way to relax after a class to practice what you learned and dance with different people in a more free setting. It is quite social so you can easily get to know new people and enjoy a drink if desired.

* What is a practica? ...A practica is Spanish for practice, so really it's just a time to work on things that you need to improve on and get assistance. In our practicas we show some new figures/steps and help with technique, and answer any questions you may have about tango.
All levels are welcome, but it is aimed more at those at a medium to high level, who need advice and guidance.

The Teachers

John Rownan began dancing in August 2004 with his first tango class. He actually continued dancing in Trinity College Dance Society learning various latin and ballroom dances with the occasional Salsa and Swing class until the summer of 2005 when he began an intensive study of Argentine Tango in Dublin and travelling to various festivals around Europe and then to Buenos Aires, which he considers his second home and the place where, by taking up to 6 hours of classes per day and dancing all night every day for several months at a time, he learned most of his technique and developed his style.

Erika Lerma is from Italy and has been living in Dublin for the past 5 years. She began dancing Tango in the summer of 2004 after seeing a performance of tango on Grafton Street. She was instantly hooked. John and Erika met in August 2005, instantly becoming friends and then dance partners, practising and developing their tango skills and going to festivals and Buenos Aires together and continue to dance together to perfect their art of Tango.

Note: John is currently dancing in Buenos Aires and for the moment Andro will teach in his place with Erika in Dublin.

About Me

International Teachers Recommended

Having learned technique and developed a style of dancing from many teachers, favourites being the teachers in Pablo and Dana's school, DNI, in Buenos Aires, and also teachers such as Gaston and Mariela, and Matias and Kara in Tango Brujo, and I would also recommend other teachers such as Julio y Corina Balmaceda, etc. The list is too great to mention all of them, but it is really important for people to learn the easy and naturally flowing technique that teachers such as these are so sought after for. This allows everyone to really enjoy the tango embrace and the music as well as the playful and fun side to this incredible dance. See some videos of some of the above mentioned teachers by clicking on the images below, and the video will appear at the top of the page.
